In a huff about Hooper
Tim. Your rant against Charmaine Hooper shows that the base prejudices of the old boys' network in soccer is alive and well. Pat yourself on the back that you have a venue to spew it.
There are many women soccer fans, myself included, who hope that one day soon your narrow-minded views will die a natural death.
Krista Madden, Nov. 26, 2006
Ed: Oh dear Krista, you didn't notice from style and content that the article's photo cutline was written by someone other than the article's author (WFP's favourite doodle dandy, Tim Grainey). Tim happens to be a shamelessly proud advocate of propogating the rise of women's football, in his home town and ours. He means you no harm. I (author of the cutline), on the other hand, would rather you wash your head in a bucket of water and get real girlfriend.
You claim to be a fan of women's soccer specifically, not of good football and good footballers, period, nomatter where they play or whether or not they wear makeup to the match. Please reconsider who's "narrow-minded".
For selfishly screwing her country three times in four years and for having marginal skills at best, Hooper no longer deserves the opportunity to wear the Big Red Jersey, and that, Krista, has entirely nothing to do with the "old boys network" but rather honourable football.
